Scientists at Baylor Research Institute have created a simple blood test that aids in the detection of colorectal cancer
Researchers in the Gastrointestinal Cancer Research Lab at Baylor Research Institute have designed a test that measures levels of microRNA, specifically miR-21, in blood. According to a recent study, researchers determined that measurements of miR-21 in the blood could identify up to 92% of patients already diagnosed with colorectal cancer and up to 82% of patients with advanced colonic polyps.
Study results are published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
